Our Story
And so it begins... - A thrilling and fun-filled adventure from Nick
Cativo.
A nostalgic word, and also one of mystery, dabbled in history. Yes, caste from the fires of Hell itself, this is the one word that nobody knows what the hell it means.
Anyway, putting that aside, lets take a look back to why two ordinary people turned into the rocking gods of rocking rock music.
It all started with the formation of a band called 'Cativo*', which (to this very day) we still ponder over. In an attempt to quickly spread their fame across the world,
they created a band website on freewebs. This, unfortunately, was one of their worst possible moves for becoming rich and famous. However, word on the street was that one of the
band members had managed to pull an 'american chick' due to such a site. It was a feat to be applauded.
Meanwhile, Nick and Doran were bored. In fact, so bored, that Nick had suggested that they make a band with a free-hosted website to see if they would attract anyone. This was the greatest move they would ever make.
The band, whose name would be decided from the availability** of Freewebs hosting, eventually turned out as Friar's Tuck. Of course, the freshly baked band would now need to make their site, which they did so with horrifying results.
For 6 months did the two spend their time in the clutches of free-hosting, now and then spilling out a brilliant (if I may say so myself) tune. The first, appropriately labeled 'Friar's Tuck', was a not-so-popular tune, but hosted nevertheless. Besides, how could they get their american chicks without content? Time moved on, and the two furiously thought until their brains were on the verge of enlightenment. The end result was the whopping 12 minute creation of darkness, something that would make the devil hang his head in shame, Conversation Lull.
More time flew, and for a while Friar's Tuck was rather dormant, now and then adding a new post to their website or editing a tune. Shadows, previously created by Doran, was revamped and FT approved with sound clips from Morrowind (much to Bethesda Softworks' dismay***), among some other tunes like Soft, Tarmac and New Yorke. However, Friar Tuck's huge leap came when Autumn arrived; a new song to fit the season. The two sat in the make-shift studio bedroom of Doran, pouring every last piece of effort into what would become one of their favourite tunes yet, Woodlands. There was of course another tune floating around, Harem of Voices, which sounds like it could only have been created with the aid of illegal drugs. We assure you that this was not the case.
Fortunately for the two, Woodlands was approved by many of their associates, even across the world. This caused the two to think broader, bigger. They could no longer be bound by the chains of free web hosting, they had to escape its advertising clutches. This soon enough came to them, as the very generous Shawna broke their chains and took them under her wing. Henceforth, they were now in her debt, quite a bit I'd suspect.
*This band, consisting of four hip to the whack students, would soon release songs such as "Bitch don't take it" and "The Chase".
**Friar's Tuck was that close to being named 'Jam Jar' instead. It would just so happen that probably all possible combinations of numbers and letters involving 'jam' had been taken.
***Doran had emailed the big company to ask if he could use a couple of their sound samples in his song. Their reply, in the short terms, was no.
